Cricket is a popular sport played around the world, especially in Australia, England, India, South Africa, and the West Indies. It is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players each. The object of the game is to score runs by hitting the cricket ball with a cricket bat and running around the cricket pitch.
Cricket has three formats: Test cricket, One Day International (ODI) cricket, and Twenty20 (T20) cricket. Test cricket is the longest format and is played over five days. ODI cricket is a limited-overs format and is played over 50 overs per side. T20 cricket is the shortest format and is played over 20 overs per side.
In cricket, the team that scores the most runs wins the game. The bowler delivers the ball to the batsman, and the batsman tries to score runs by hitting the ball. The fielding team tries to prevent runs from being scored and to take wickets (dismiss the batsman). A wicket is taken when the ball hits the stumps (the three vertical posts at the end of the cricket pitch) and knocks the bails (the horizontal pieces on top of the stumps) off.
Cricket is considered one of the most strategic and tactical games in the world, and it is known for its unique rules and traditions.
